Karren Bovingdon our SPLW works Tuesdays and Thursdays. Social prescribing is a way to connect people with community based services, groups and activities that meet practical, social and emotional needs that affect their health and wellbeing. Please call the surgery to book an appointment should you require help with any of the following:-
- Housing, Finance, and Benefits
- Long Term Conditions
- General and Emotional Wellbeing
- Social Isolation and Integration
- Volunteering, Employment, and Learning
An SPLW can link you to the right support by:
Signposting – information and encouragement to access services
Facilitation – information and support to access services
Navigation – support to engage and access a service
The Future of Antibiotics is in Our Hands
If we carry on taking antibiotics incorrectly, in the future they could stop working altogether. Without effective antibiotics, many common treatments will become increasingly dangerous including setting broken bones, treatments for cancer and routine operations. If everyone ensures they take antibiotics correctly, we will stop bacteria becoming resistant to antibiotics and ensure they continue to work for future generations.
Antibiotics only treat bacterial conditions, if your condition is viral they will not work
Always complete a full course of antibiotics as prescribed by the Doctor, even if you are feeling better
Antibiotics will not cure toothache, but your Dentist can help

Nurse Clinics
Our Practice nursing staff are Michelle Marshall and Kathryn Pomphrett Healthcare Assistant.
Patients please be aware when booking an appointment to see a specific nurse that you have booked into the appropriate clinic appointment slot. For example smears can only be done by our Practice Nurse Michelle Marshall.
If in any doubt please ring the surgery and the reception team will book your appointment in to the correct clinic.
C Card is available at the Haven Surgery
C Card is a condom distribution scheme that provides registered young people 13-24 years with a C Card which entitles them to free condoms. It also gives young people access to sexual health information, advice and support.
This initiative allows you to pick up free condoms from over 200 outlets throughout County Durham and Darlington once you have completed some straightforward registration details. The C Card is a plastic card the same size as a credit card.
If you would like a C Card you can now attend the surgery to register. If you already have a C Card you can attend The Haven Surgery or any outlet to pick up free condoms.
